Indian Naval Ships Udaygiri and Kavaratti, under the command of Rear Admiral Alok Ananda, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet, departed Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on June 24, 2026, following a port call as part of their deployment in Southeast Asia. During the visit, Rear Admiral Ananda met with senior officials from the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the Vietnamese People's Navy to discuss maritime cooperation, professional collaboration, and regional maritime security. The engagement included a wreath-laying ceremony at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh, conducted by the FOCEF and the commanding officers of both Indian ships.

Personnel from both navies participated in professional interactions and bilateral exercises, providing an opportunity to exchange operational experiences and reinforce their commitment to maritime security. A joint yoga session was conducted onboard INS Kavaratti to mark the 12th International Day of Yoga. The Ambassador of India to Vietnam was hosted onboard INS Udaygiri along with representatives from the Vietnamese Navy, diplomatic community, and other distinguished guests.

The port call reaffirms India's Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Vietnam, built on mutual trust and converging interests. It demonstrates India's commitment to its Act East Policy and the MAHASAGAR vision (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions), reflecting continued constructive maritime engagement with friendly countries in the region.
