Indian Railways has approved a ₹226 crore project to modernize signaling infrastructure by installing Electronic Interlocking (EI) systems at 13 stations on the Durg-Taroki section of Raipur Division in South East Central Railway (SECR). The project involves replacing the existing Panel Interlocking (PI) system with state-of-the-art Electronic Interlocking technology at the following stations: Marauda (MXA), Risama (RSA), Gundardehi (GDZ), Latabor (LBO), Balod (BXA), Kusumkasa (KYS), Dalli Rajhara (DRZ), Gudum (GUDM), Bhanupratappur (BPTP), Keoti (KETI), Antagarh (AAGH), Taroki (TDOK), and Raipur Store Depot (RSD).

The Electronic Interlocking system automates route setting and signaling functions while incorporating advanced safety features, which will significantly enhance operational safety, reliability, and signaling efficiency. The upgrade is expected to improve operational flexibility, reduce the possibility of signaling failures, enable faster restoration during disruptions, enhance train punctuality, and provide a stronger technological foundation for handling growing passenger and freight traffic on the SECR network. This project is part of Indian Railways' ongoing program to modernize signaling systems across the national network through advanced technologies, ensuring safer, smarter, and more efficient railway operations.
