Indian Railways has approved the introduction of daily Train No. 51673/51674 Itarsi-Madan Mahal Passenger service, marking a significant step towards strengthening rail connectivity across central Madhya Pradesh. The new service will operate daily covering a distance of 242 km in approximately 5 hours and 5 minutes.
Train No. 51673 Itarsi-Madan Mahal Passenger will depart from Itarsi Junction at 11:40 hours and arrive at Madan Mahal at 16:45 hours. In the return direction, Train No. 51674 Madan Mahal-Itarsi Passenger will leave Madan Mahal at 17:50 hours and reach Itarsi Junction at 22:55 hours.
The service will have commercial stoppages at 9 intermediate stations: Bagra Tawa, Sohagpur, Pipariya, Bankhedi, Salichauka Road, Gadarwara, Kareli, Narsinghpur, and Sridham. This regional connectivity initiative is designed to serve the Jabalpur–Narmadapuram belt, connecting two major railway nodes (Jabalpur and Itarsi) while providing affordable daily access to intermediate towns and smaller stations.
The service specifically targets middle-class, unreserved, and short-distance passengers, performing an important feeder/distribution function. It facilitates access to employment, education, medical, commercial, and pilgrimage centers while enabling onward connectivity from Itarsi to major destinations across India. The introduction is expected to enhance regional connectivity and strengthen the rail transport network in Madhya Pradesh.
