The Ministry of Railways has approved a new tri-weekly express train service between Machilipatnam and Kurnool City via Vijayawada under the South Coast Railway zone. The train will cover a distance of 499 kilometers and is designed to enhance connectivity between coastal and central regions of Andhra Pradesh.
The Machilipatnam-Kurnool City Express will depart from Machilipatnam at 16:55 hours and arrive at Kurnool City at 05:45 hours the following day. In the return direction, the Kurnool City-Machilipatnam Express will depart from Kurnool City at 09:30 hours and reach Machilipatnam at 21:35 hours on the same day. The service will operate on specific days: the Machilipatnam-Kurnool City route will run on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, while the return service will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
The new train will provide commercial stoppages at 12 key stations: Gudivada, Vijayawada, Narasaraopet, Vinukonda, Donakonda, Markapur Road, Cumbum, Giddalur, Diguvametta, Nandyal, Betamcherla, and Dhone. This connectivity aims to serve passengers across multiple towns and cities in Andhra Pradesh, offering additional travel options and strengthening regional rail infrastructure.
