Indian Railways Introduces Composite Sleepers and AI Monitoring

Indian Railways will replace iron and concrete sleepers with modern composite sleepers at bridge approaches and points & crossings.
Composite sleepers can withstand loads up to 700 kg per square cm, are lighter, and offer better cushioning and maintenance cost reduction.
AI-enabled Ground Penetration Radar devices will be installed in inspection vehicles for enhanced track base condition assessment.
Magnetic Particle Testing technique will be implemented to identify minute defects in railway track welded joints.
