Indian Railways carried a record 1670 million tonnes of freight in 2025-26, a 3.25% increase from the previous year.
Fertilizer and steel shipments surged over 13%, while iron ore and cement transport also saw significant growth.
Multiple railway zones achieved double-digit growth, led by South Western Railway with a 14.89% increase in freight loading.
