Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Manohar Lal inaugurated the Indore Metro Priority Corridor–2 on September 5, 2026, in the presence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Mohan Yadav and Minister of State Shri Tokhan Sahu. The newly inaugurated Phase-I (Reach-II) spans approximately 11 kilometers and comprises 11 stations starting from Super Corridor-3 to Malviya Nagar Chauraha, developed at an estimated cost of ₹2,850 crore.
With this expansion, the Indore Metro network now comprises 16 operational stations covering approximately 17 kilometers, representing a cumulative project investment of about ₹4,370 crore. The Union Minister emphasized that the metro rail system serves as an important instrument for economic growth, urban transformation, and social inclusion, beyond being merely a transportation project.
The metro is expected to provide citizens with a faster, safer, more comfortable, and reliable mode of transport while strengthening connectivity between residential, commercial, and employment centers. Increased use of public transport through the metro system is anticipated to help reduce traffic congestion, fuel consumption, and emissions in the city. The Minister congratulated the Government of Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited, officials, engineers, workers, and all stakeholders associated with the project implementation.
