Indian Naval Ship Tarkash, a frontline stealth frigate, arrived at Mombasa, Kenya on September 29, 2026 for a goodwill port call as part of her deployment. The visit underscores the longstanding and multifaceted relationship between India and Kenya, two maritime nations connected by historical, cultural and people-to-people ties across the Indian Ocean.

During the port call, personnel of the Indian and Kenya Navies will participate in a range of professional and social engagements including interaction, cross-learning and cultural exchange activities designed to share experiences and enhance interoperability. Community outreach activities will also be undertaken, providing naval personnel from both countries opportunities to engage beyond the professional domain through sports and community service activities to foster camaraderie and cultural understanding.

The port call reflects India's commitment to maritime partnerships with friendly countries in the Indian Ocean Region and is conducted in keeping with the spirit of MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions). The deployment is expected to further consolidate the enduring India-Kenya maritime partnership.
