Indian Naval Ship Tarkash, a stealth frigate of the Indian Navy, arrived at Port Victoria, Seychelles on June 12, 2026 during its ongoing operational deployment to the South West Indian Ocean Region. The ship performed escort duties for Seychelles Coast Guard ship PS Zoroaster from India to Seychelles, following the completion of the vessel's refit at Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) in Kolkata. This escort operation demonstrates the lasting maritime partnership between India and Seychelles across construction and sustainment activities, while also underscoring interoperability to effectively address shared maritime challenges in the Indian Ocean Region.
During the port visit, Captain Rohit Mishra, Commanding Officer of INS Tarkash, is scheduled to call on senior Government officials and Seychelles Defence Forces functionaries. The visit program includes cultural and social engagements, and involves the handover of critical spares and essential stores to the Government of Seychelles. The port call is designed to further strengthen camaraderie, mutual cooperation, and bilateral ties between India and Seychelles, reflecting ongoing defense diplomacy efforts in the region.
