The Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering & Winter Sports (JIM & WS) from Pahalgam conducted a 22-member mountaineering expedition to the Mt Khyam Tso Massif in the Rumtse Phu region of Ladakh. The expedition was flagged off by Team Leader Col Hem Chandra Singh on June 26, 2026. Following structured acclimatization in Ladakh, the team summited Mt Peak Pt 5901M on July 2, 2026 under extreme weather conditions, and achieved a historic first-ever paragliding flight from 5600M on the same peak. The team subsequently summited another technically challenging peak at 6090M and Mt Peak Pt 5944M on July 3, 2026, demonstrating exceptional grit and teamwork. Finally, the team summited the massif's final peak, Mt Khyam-III (6018M), on July 5, 2026 and successfully descended to the road head camp. The successful ascent showcases adventure spirit and national pride while reinforcing India's growing footprint in unexplored Ladakh mountain ranges.
