The Kisan Sarathi platform, launched in July 2021 as India's largest integrated digital agro-advisory platform, provides timely, authentic, and multilingual advisories to farmers through a joint initiative of the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology and the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Implemented by the Indian Agricultural Statistics Research Institute and Digital India Corporation, the platform uses the Interactive Information Dissemination System (IIDS) technology that enables two-way communication between farmers and experts through voice calls, video calls, text, image, and video exchange via chat.

The platform connects farmers with 730+ Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), 100+ ICAR institutes, and 65+ agricultural universities, creating a strong national agricultural advisory ecosystem. It integrates key digital platforms including Kisan Call Centre, Common Service Centre, India Meteorological Department, MyScheme, and BHASHINI, bringing critical agricultural services onto a single digital interface. Farmers can access services through multiple channels including Kisan Call Centres, Common Service Centres, web portal, WhatsApp, and mobile app, ensuring accessibility regardless of smartphone access or digital literacy levels.

As of June 25, 2026, Kisan Sarathi services are available in 37 States/UTs across 768 districts and 6.63 lakh villages, with a network of 4,767 ICAR scientists and 113 ICAR institutes. The platform has 2.95 crore registered farmers, including 56.16 lakh women beneficiaries. Registration methods include 2.89 crore farmers through KVK visits, 5.35 lakh through Kisan Call Centres, 21,517 through mobile applications, 2,416 through web portal, and 39,193 through Common Service Centres.

The platform has handled 19.21 lakh queries to date and released 21,900 advisories covering 351 commodities in 34 States/UTs. It provides access to 610 government schemes (102 central government schemes), offering personalized advisories based on farm profiles, live interaction in 13 regional languages, call facilities, conferencing support, access to knowledge databases, and location-specific push alert messages. Advisories cover all major cereals, pulses, oilseeds, horticulture crops, plantation crops, fodder crops, livestock, poultry, fisheries, and allied sectors, while also providing mandi prices and district-wise market rates for major crops.

The platform benefits various agricultural stakeholders: research institutions gain stronger outreach and wider dissemination of scientific advisories, KVKs and experts achieve faster farmer outreach and more efficient advisory delivery, while policymakers access real-time field insights, dashboards, and analytics for evidence-based policy planning. The platform follows the Know Your Farmer (KYF) approach, storing query history for future reference and improving advisory accuracy and relevance through personalized subscriptions that farmers can modify anytime.
