The Ministry of Ayush organized 'Daud Se Dhyan 2026 - From Movement to Stillness' in Kolkata on June 19, 2026, as part of pre-celebrations for the 12th International Day of Yoga. The event was conducted under the Swachhata Se Swagat Programme and aimed to promote health, cleanliness, civic responsibility, and holistic well-being.
Chief Minister of West Bengal Suvendu Adhikari and Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush Prataprao Jadhav jointly flagged off the marathon from Kolkata Municipal Corporation Headquarters to Writers' Building. Following the marathon, a yoga and meditation session was held at the historic Writers' Building. The event featured participation from ministers Indranil Khan, Agnimitra Paul, and Tapas Roy; MLA Bijoy Ojha; Chief Secretary of West Bengal Government Dr. Manoj Kumar Agarwal; and Secretary of Ministry of Ayush Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha. Former tennis player Leander Paes also participated in the yoga session.
A 2 km Yoga Run was simultaneously organized across 11 locations in Kolkata: P.A.C. Tent Maidan, Elliot Park, RSM Square (Central), Tala Park (Belgachia), Subhas Sarobar (Beliaghata), Captain Bhery (EM Bypass), Golpark (Vivekananda Park), Gitanjali Stadium (Kasba), KFR Ground (Behala), Sanghamitra School Playground (West Port), and Chandipura Rangsara Ground (Bhangar). The initiative aimed to encourage citizens to embrace yoga as a way of life and highlight the journey from physical movement toward mindfulness and meditation.
