The Logistics Data Bank (LDB) has achieved a significant milestone by tracking 10 crore EXIM containers since its launch in 2016. The technology-driven platform provides comprehensive visibility of export-import container movement across India's logistics chain through RFID-based tracking systems, Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, and Cloud technologies.

LDB offers 100% coverage of India's EXIM container movement, spanning 19 ports and 32 container terminals. The extensive network includes 103 Inland Container Depots, 439 Container Freight Stations, empty yards, parking plazas, industrial zones, 89 Manufacturing Special Economic Zones, 5,569 railway stations, 269 toll plazas, and three Integrated Check Posts. The platform generates analytics on critical performance metrics including dwell time, transit time, and port and terminal performance, enabling stakeholders to monitor operations and identify bottlenecks.

Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Shri Piyush Goyal emphasized that this milestone represents significant progress in India's logistics journey, noting that technology is making logistics simpler, faster, and more efficient while improving the competitiveness of Indian industry. He stated that efficient logistics is central to strengthening manufacturing and expanding India's presence in global markets, supporting the vision of a Viksit Bharat.

The enhanced LDB 2.0 version, launched in September 2025, expanded the platform's capabilities by enabling high-seas tracking of India's export containers and providing multimodal shipment visibility. The system experiences an average of over 1.5 crore container searches every month through its single-window platform at www.ldb.co.in.

NICDC Logistics Data Services Limited (NLDSL), established on 30 December 2015 as a joint venture between the Government of India (represented by NICDIT) and Japanese IT major NEC Corporation, operates the Logistics Data Bank along with the Unified Logistics Interface Platform (ULIP). These platforms use digital technologies to support efficiency, transparency, and digitization in the logistics sector. The World Bank's Logistics Performance Index has recognized LDB's role in improving India's logistics performance.
