The 19th Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) is presenting Busan: Next Wave, a special showcase of short films from the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), one of Asia's most reputed film festivals. The showcase features five films that highlight diverse themes and distinctive storytelling styles from emerging Asian filmmakers.
The films include 'A Man Who Takes Pictures of Flowers', which follows photographer Jung Myung Kim who has spent over 40 years traveling across Korea photographing wildflowers while facing a serious illness. 'Delay' tells the story of a Chinese homosexual father traveling to Paris for his son's wedding, exploring family relationships and emotional distance through unexpected delays. 'Noise Cancellation' follows Miju struggling to secure compensation after a workplace injury while dealing with disturbing noises from her upstairs apartment. The other two films showcased are 'Interface' and 'It sounds Louder on rainy days'.
The Busan: Next Wave programme aims to highlight the creative vision of emerging filmmakers from across Asia through distinctive narratives and innovative cinematic styles, reflecting the richness and diversity of contemporary Asian cinema. The showcase is part of Mumbai International Film Festival's efforts to promote cultural exchange and emerging talent in the film industry.
