The Ministry of Ayush has invited citizens across India to participate in the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 celebrations on June 21, 2026. The main event will be held at the historic Red Road in Kolkata under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where the entire nation will practice the Common Yoga Protocol simultaneously.
The Ministry of Culture is organizing special IDY 2026 celebrations at 100 iconic locations across 23 states and union territories, connecting India's cultural heritage with yoga traditions. The celebrations span numerous historical and cultural sites including Lepakshi in Andhra Pradesh, Charaideo in Assam, Nalanda in Bihar, Humayun's Tomb in Delhi, Rani ki Vav in Gujarat, Hampi in Karnataka, Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh, Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu, and Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh among many others.
In Delhi, special yoga sessions are being organized at 40 prominent public locations including major parks, sports complexes, heritage sites, and community spaces. Notable venues include Lawn of Shantipath, Lodhi Garden, Red Fort, Kartavya Path, Yamuna Sports Complex, Siri Fort Sports Complex, and various district parks across the National Capital Region.
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ministry of Ayush and Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Prataprao Jadhav, emphasized the importance of public participation in making IDY 2026 a memorable celebration that reflects the spirit of Jan Bhagidari (public participation). Citizens are encouraged to arrive early at their nearest yoga venue to practice the Common Yoga Protocol together, sharing India's message of health, harmony, and well-being with the world.
