The Ministry of Ayush celebrated the 10th Ayurveda Day on September 23, 2025, with the theme 'Ayurveda for People and Planet'. The main event was held at All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa, under the leadership of the Ministry, with AIIA Goa serving as the nodal institute. The event was attended by Shri Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju (Governor of Goa), Dr. Pramod Sawant (Chief Minister of Goa), Shri Prataprao Jadhav (Union Minister of State for Ayush), and Shri Shripad Yesso Naik (Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy).
During the event, the National Dhanwantari Ayurveda Awards were conferred upon eminent Vaidyas for their contributions to Ayurveda. Several facilities were inaugurated at AIIA Goa, including an Integrative Oncology Unit, Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) Unit, Blood Storage Unit, and Hospital Linen Processing & Care Unit. Key initiatives launched included Guidelines for Examining Ayush Related Interventions by the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs, and Trade Marks (CGPDTM), a nationwide health assessment campaign called 'Desh ka Swasthya Parikshan', the 'Admirable Personalities to Transform Ayurveda (APTA)' website by CCRAS, and the web-based portal 'Digitized Retrieval Application for Versatile Yardstick of Ayush Substances (DRAVYA)' developed by CCRAS.
Ayurveda Day activities were conducted across all 32 States and Union Territories of India and in more than 150 countries. These activities included Ayurveda health camps providing free consultations, diagnostic services, and medicine distribution; specialized camps for non-communicable diseases, geriatric care, women and child health, and lifestyle disorders; outreach services in rural and underserved areas; educational initiatives such as seminars, conferences, CME programmes, workshops, and expert lectures; school and college activities including quizzes, essay competitions, painting competitions, and awareness drives; environmental sustainability activities including plantation drives, herbal garden development, medicinal plant distribution, and cleanliness campaigns under Swachhta initiatives; and digital outreach through webinars, social media campaigns, online pledge drives, and interactive programmes on platforms like MyGov.
The Government has institutionalized Ayurveda Day by notifying September 23 as the annual date for its observance. The Ministry of Ayush adopts a Whole-of-Government approach involving Central Ministries/Departments, States/UTs, National Institutes, Research Councils, academic institutions, and other stakeholders. Each year, a dedicated theme is identified, and a framework of suggested activities aligned with the theme is circulated to facilitate coordinated nationwide implementation with a focus on preventive healthcare, health promotion, and public awareness through Ayurveda. A nodal institution is designated annually for coordination, and a dedicated Ayurveda Day microsite serves as a central repository for IEC materials and resources.
