Ministry of Coal Accelerates Cleanliness and E-Waste Management Under Special Campaign 6

The Ministry of Coal is intensifying efforts to advance cleanliness, efficient space utilization, and responsible waste management across its offices and public sector undertakings during the implementation phase of Special Campaign 6. As part of this campaign, an e-waste collection drive was organized at a dedicated kiosk in the Main Entrance Lobby of GPOA-3, New Delhi. Union Minister of Coal and Mines Shri G. Kishan Reddy and Minister of State for Coal and Mines Shri Satish Chandra Dubey personally participated in the drive by depositing discarded electronic items at the kiosk, highlighting the importance of responsible e-waste disposal, systematic collection, and scientific recycling for promoting environmental sustainability and resource efficiency.

To review campaign progress, the Ministry convened a meeting with Nodal Officers from Coal India Limited (CIL) and its subsidiaries, NLC India Limited (NLCIL), Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), and the Coal Mines Provident Fund Organisation (CMPFO). The meeting assessed ongoing activities and emphasized the need to expedite implementation, maintain momentum, and complete all identified tasks within stipulated timelines. Shri Sanjeev Kumar Kassi, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Coal, called upon participating organizations to intensify efforts and ensure timely achievement of campaign targets.

Under Special Campaign 6, CPSEs under the Ministry of Coal have achieved notable progress, with 562 sites cleaned and transformed by the midpoint of the implementation phase. These efforts reflect a sustained commitment to improving workplace environments, eliminating unused and cluttered spaces, and promoting better utilization of infrastructure across offices and field establishments.

Specific achievements include Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) undertaking a comprehensive cleaning and beautification drive across 15,000 square feet in Pandaveswar Area, involving removal of wild vegetation, bushes, weeds, and accumulated debris, which significantly improved cleanliness, safety, and appearance of the premises. Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) transformed an underutilized space at its Headquarters Security Department into a modern, well-organized Corporate Security Office, demonstrating effective utilization of existing infrastructure to create a more functional workplace.

Through these concerted efforts, the Ministry of Coal and its CPSEs are advancing the objectives of Special Campaign 6.0 by combining cleanliness drives, scientific waste management, and productive use of available spaces, reinforcing a culture of cleanliness, accountability, and operational efficiency across the coal sector.
