The Ministry of Coal is preparing to conduct Special Campaign 6 from October 2 to October 31, 2026, across all its administrative offices and public sector undertakings. This month-long initiative is aligned with the national 'Waste to Wealth' vision and focuses on scientific e-waste disposal, scrap clearance, office space optimization, and workplace digitalization to foster sustainable, efficient, and citizen-first governance.
Key review meetings were conducted to ensure comprehensive implementation. On September 28, 2026, Smt. Rupinder Brar, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal, chaired a ministry-level review meeting with Senior Officers across all divisions to establish operational strategy and target benchmarks. On September 29, 2026, Shri Sanjeev Kumar Kassi, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Coal, chaired a follow-up review meeting with Nodal Officers from Coal India Limited and its subsidiaries, NLC India Limited, the Coal Controller's Organisation, and the Coal Mines Provident Fund Organisation.
The campaign includes several preparatory initiatives: an Identification & Segregation Drive where the Ministry, CPSEs, CCO, and CMPFO are identifying obsolete items, physical scrap, and e-waste for systematic review and scientific disposal; a Youth Innovation Workshop organized by Western Coalfields Limited at WCL Koyla Vihar for employees' wards, where participants transformed discarded waste materials into creative prototypes including spacecraft, robots, cars, and castles; and a Cleanliness Awareness promotion through a debate competition hosted by the Coal Controller's Organisation on the theme 'Swachhata aur Viksit Bharat ki Parikalpana' (Cleanliness and the Vision of a Developed India).
Through these combined efforts, the Ministry of Coal aims to reinforce robust institutional mechanisms, drive administrative efficiency, and advance a cleaner, greener India.
