The Ministry of Mines and its field offices have undertaken various sustainability initiatives during the first fortnight of Special Campaign 6, launched on October 2, 2026. The campaign focuses on promoting sustainability, cleanliness, and responsible resource management with particular emphasis on effective collection, segregation, and disposal of e-waste.

Hindustan Copper Limited inaugurated a rainwater harvesting initiative at Khetri Copper Complex in Rajasthan to promote water conservation and sustainable water management. The company also conducted a plantation drive at Indian Copper Complex in Jharkhand under the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" initiative to enhance green cover. The Geological Survey of India has discontinued the use of single-use plastic water bottles in all official meetings, conferences, and videoconferencing halls, replacing them with reusable stainless-steel or metal water bottles and glass jugs.

National Aluminium Company Limited introduced a Clean Desk & Workplace Excellence Competition among employees to promote workplace cleanliness and organised workspaces. The company also launched the One Employee, One Green Initiative to encourage individual participation in environmental conservation. The Indian Bureau of Mines undertook various Waste-to-Wealth/art initiatives including transforming barren and unutilised space near hospitals into attractive green spaces and gardens.

As part of the e-waste management drive, Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminium Research Development and Design Centre, in association with the Materials Recycling Association of India, is facilitating e-waste collection across various locations. The initiative has collected 3,020 kg of e-waste so far, with recyclers disbursing ₹3,07,855. Collected e-waste will be channeled for responsible recycling and recovery of critical minerals through appropriate mechanisms, promoting circular economy and environmentally sound disposal of electronic equipment.

The progress reflects collective efforts of organizations under the Ministry to promote sustainable workplace practices, strengthen environmental responsibility, and contribute to a cleaner and greener future.
