The Ministry of Textiles organized Swachhta and cleanliness activities on Gandhi Jayanti (October 2, 2026) under Special Campaign 6.0. The program was led by the Secretary (Textiles) at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Delhi and attended by senior ministry officers, faculty members, and staff. Participants administered the Swachhta Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining cleanliness and contributing to a cleaner environment.
A cleanliness drive was undertaken at the NIFT Delhi campus with active participation from officers, faculty, and staff, focusing on improving premises upkeep, promoting proper waste management, and sensitizing participants to maintaining hygienic surroundings. As part of the initiative, dedicated textile waste collection bins were installed starting October 2, 2026, to promote responsible collection, segregation, recycling, and upcycling of post-consumer textile waste in Central Government office complexes and residential colonies in New Delhi.
During the Implementation Phase of Special Campaign 6, officers and employees from attached and subordinate offices participated in the Swachhta Pledge. A comprehensive cleanliness and de-cluttering drive was conducted at the National Jute Board premises at Patsan Bhawan, Kolkata, and the Regional Office, New Delhi, from October 2 to 4, 2026. The ministry continues to focus on Swachhta, cleanliness, space management, disposal of pending references, and e-waste management as part of the campaign objectives.
