The Ministry of Ports has launched initiatives like the Green Tug Transition Programme and renewable energy adoption to develop green ports and maritime infrastructure.
Around 180 projects for port modernization, coastal shipping, and green ports were approved in the last two financial years (2023-24 to 2024-25).
The Ministry has set 2030 targets including >60% renewable energy use, 50% port equipment electrification, and a 30% reduction in CO2 emissions per cargo ton.
