The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has commenced the preparatory phase of Special Campaign 6, an initiative launched by the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG) to institutionalize Swachhata (cleanliness) and minimize pendency in government offices. The campaign involves MNRE along with its two CPSUs - Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA) and Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd. (SECI) - and three Autonomous Institutes: National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE), and Sardar Swarn Singh National Institute of Bio Energy (SSS-NIBE).
The implementation phase will run from October 2 to October 31, 2026, during which concerted efforts will be made to achieve targets identified during the preparatory phase. This year's campaign places special emphasis on effective collection, segregation, and disposal of e-waste following MoEFCC guidelines, along with cleanliness drives and timely disposal of pending matters.
During the preparatory phase, activities include identification and disposal of pendency under various parameters, review categorization and weeding out of physical records as per extant guidelines, conduct of cleanliness campaigns, and identification and segregation of e-waste for target setting.
The ministry and its PSUs/institutions recorded substantial progress during last year's Special Campaign 5, including reviewing 725 targeted e-files, making significant progress in disposing of references from Members of Parliament, and conducting 8 out of 9 targeted cleanliness campaigns.
