The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has signed a contract worth Rs 449 crore with Accord Software and Systems Private Limited (ASSPL), Bengaluru, for the procurement of 20 Enhanced Capability Global Navigation Satellite System (ECGNSS) Jammers for the Indian Navy. The contract was signed under the Buy (Indian-Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured) category, mandating a minimum of 75% indigenous content for the systems. The signing ceremony took place in New Delhi on June 10, 2026, in the presence of Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh.
The technical capabilities of the ECGNSS Jammer system include degrading the satellite signal acquisition and tracking performance of adversary GNSS receivers, as well as enabling signal spoofing or deceptive jamming. The induction of this technology is intended to pave the way for the safe operation of Indian Navy ships in a multi-threat environment by countering hostile navigation systems.
This procurement reinforces the Government of India's commitment to its Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) and Make-in-India initiatives, while simultaneously bolstering the country's maritime security architecture. The MoD stated that the contract marks a critical milestone in the ongoing efforts to enhance indigenous defense capabilities and indigenize advanced military technology.
