Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, along with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, met with major Slovak business and industry leaders on June 15, 2026, to discuss expanding bilateral economic engagement. The meeting covered multiple domains including railways, defence, automotives, energy, IT, and healthcare.
Prime Minister Modi appreciated the growing business-to-business engagement between the two countries and highlighted major reforms and policy initiatives introduced by India in recent years to promote ease of doing business and foster a transparent, stable, and investor-friendly economic environment. He specifically invited Slovak companies to take advantage of opportunities in infrastructure, defence, renewable energy, digital innovation, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and healthcare sectors.
The Slovak industry leaders welcomed India's reforms toward Viksit Bharat and expressed confidence in India's economic trajectory. They conveyed interest in strengthening their footprint in India through enhanced investments, technology partnerships, and joint ventures with Indian enterprises. The business leaders particularly welcomed the conclusion of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA), noting that its implementation would open new business opportunities for them.
