The Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA), through its Department of Capital Development in collaboration with Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban, conducted a participatory workshop titled "Planning a Shared Roadmap for Clean Delhi" on October 31, 2026. The workshop brought together sanitation inspectors, supervisors, urban local body officials from NDMC, MCD, DDA, and other key stakeholders to collectively deliberate on practical solutions for making Delhi cleaner, healthier and more liveable.

This was the first time functionaries from top to lowest levels came together on a common platform to address critical urban sanitation challenges. Sanitation staff provided first-hand insights into everyday operational challenges, enabling stakeholders to brainstorm practical, on-ground solutions alongside policy interventions. An online digital poll was conducted among participants to identify key challenges affecting cleanliness in Delhi and gather insights from grassroots-level stakeholders, providing valuable feedback on operational gaps, citizen behavior, service delivery challenges and improvement opportunities.

As a mark of appreciation, Sanitary Inspectors and Supervisors were felicitated for their exemplary contribution towards urban sanitation. The workshop commenced with a motivational address by spiritual leader BK Hussain from Brahma Kumaris. The interactive discussion focused on ten critical questions including reasons Delhi struggles with visible cleanliness despite significant investments, strategies for transitioning towards a bin-less city through efficient door-to-door waste collection, addressing recurring Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs), preventing waste from entering water bodies, ensuring public toilets remain clean and functional throughout the day, and improving citizen grievance redressal systems.

Ms. D. Thara, Secretary, Department of Capital Development, MoHUA, addressed the gathering and congratulated sanitation workers, stating that they are "the true givers of health to society" as their Swachhata work reduces illness and enables citizens to lead healthier lives. The workshop concluded with a shared commitment from all stakeholders to work collectively towards implementing practical, citizen-centric and results-oriented measures for making Delhi cleaner.
