Overview

Montran India, the largest Indian subsidiary of the global financial‑infrastructure provider Montran, organized the second edition of its Montran India Summit on 25 August 2026 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The event, themed “India – Watched by the World. Building What’s Next,” brought together senior executives from banks, financial institutions, regulators and market‑infrastructure bodies to discuss the next phase of India’s digital financial ecosystem.

Keynote Address

The summit’s keynote was delivered by Shri Adv. Ashish Shelar, Hon’ble Minister for Information Technology, Electronics, Artificial Intelligence and Cultural Affairs, Government of Maharashtra. He emphasized that while the past decade democratized access to financial services through digital public infrastructure, the forthcoming decade must democratize intelligence via responsible AI. Shelar called for security, accountability and inclusion to be built‑in by design, positioning Mumbai as a global hub where companies can design in Maharashtra, build for India and scale worldwide.

Montran’s Presentation

Montran showcased its AI‑led Payment Intelligence platform, illustrating how artificial intelligence and increased automation can strengthen fraud detection and risk‑management capabilities in increasingly complex digital‑payment environments. CEO Julie Esca highlighted that India has completed the first phase of its fintech journey—characterized by extraordinary speed, scale and adoption—and that the next phase will be defined by trust, resilient infrastructure, stronger authentication, and reliable technology. She noted that the evolving regulatory landscape, soaring transaction volumes and heightened customer expectations compel continuous innovation, and that Montran’s solutions are being refined to meet the demands of one of the world’s most demanding financial markets while enhancing its global product suite. Esca stressed that lasting partnerships among banks, regulators and technology providers are essential as financial infrastructure becomes more real‑time and intelligent.

Panel Discussions

Two panel sessions examined critical developments:

1. Capital Markets – Speakers explained how India’s instant‑payments revolution has paved the way for a rapid shift to T+1 securities settlement, with a longer‑term vision of moving to T+0. Market‑infrastructure participants described technology strategies that enable tokenisation and internationalisation, promising efficiency gains for the country’s large and fast‑growing investor base.

2. Payments & AI – The second panel explored how banks and financial institutions can construct more resilient, scalable, AI‑enabled payment systems to support an always‑on digital economy.

Senior representatives from NSDL, NSE Clearing Limited, IFSCA, Bank of India, Axis Bank and Montran participated in the discussions, underscoring the industry‑wide shift from building payments infrastructure at unprecedented scale to focusing on faster securities settlement and AI‑driven risk management.

Future Outlook

Montran announced that the summit will become an annual platform for dialogue, as it collaborates with the industry to develop the next generation of financial infrastructure in India.
