The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) will implement Special Campaign 6.0 from October 2 to 31, 2026, with a primary focus on enhancing cleanliness and maintenance of National Highways and Toll Plazas. The campaign also aims to reduce pendency, strengthen record management, promote e-waste disposal, and optimize office space utilization across all organizations under the Ministry's administrative control.

The campaign operates in two phases: a preparatory phase from September 15-30, 2026, for target identification and planning, followed by the main implementation phase. Key activities include garbage removal along urban highway sections, refurbishment of toilet blocks at toll plazas, cleaning and maintenance of functional facilities, overall toll plaza upkeep improvements, cleaning and painting works, enhanced lighting and solarization of toll plazas, road signage installation and improvement, enhanced visibility of road markings, and pothole elimination on National Highways.

A specific 50-kilometer stretch of National Highway, including one Toll Plaza, has been identified for focused intervention. Ministry officers from Headquarters will be deputed to inspect these stretches, geo-tag deficiencies, and continuously monitor rectification progress. These officers are responsible for ensuring timely resolution of identified issues and overall improvement in highway cleanliness, safety, and upkeep during the campaign period.

All campaign offices including Headquarters, Regional Offices, Programme Implementation Units, and field offices have been sensitized for concerted implementation efforts. Nodal Officers have been appointed for each organization under MoRTH to coordinate and oversee campaign implementation while regularly reporting progress to the Ministry. The Joint Secretary (Coord.) serves as the overall Nodal Officer for ministry-wide coordination.

Progress is being regularly reviewed by the Joint Secretary (Coord.) with Campaign Office Nodal Officers, while the Secretary of MoRTH reviews preparatory phase progress during weekly Senior Officers' Meetings. The campaign represents a comprehensive effort to ensure cleaner, safer, and better-maintained highway infrastructure while improving organizational efficiency and workplace practices.
