The Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI) successfully conducted its Swachhata Pakhwada 2026 from July 1 to 15, 2026, with participation from all its divisions, attached/subordinate/autonomous organizations, and field offices across India. The fortnight-long initiative focused on sanitation, workplace hygiene, record management, environmental sustainability, waste management, and efficient office practices aligned with the Swachh Bharat Mission objectives.
Activities included plantation drives, awareness campaigns, seminars, workshops, competitions, rallies, shramdaan, community outreach programs in mohallas and schools, Nukkad Nataks, sea beach cleaning drives, large-scale public participation campaigns, waste-to-wealth initiatives, and environmental conservation activities. Specific initiatives addressed reduction of single-use plastic, waste segregation, recycling, and sustainable waste management.
The program concluded with a prize distribution ceremony chaired by the Secretary of MoSPI, who presented mementos to the top three performing offices. Field Operations Division (FOD) received first prize, National Statistical Systems Training Academy (NSSTA) received second prize, and Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) received third prize for their outstanding and exemplary participation.
The Secretary appreciated the dedicated efforts of all officers and officials across the ministry and emphasized that cleanliness should extend beyond the Pakhwada period to become an integral part of working culture and everyday life. The ministry reiterated its commitment to institutionalizing cleanliness, promoting environmental responsibility, and fostering public participation for a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable India.
