MSME Online Dispute Resolution Portal Success Cases
The Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises has demonstrated the effectiveness of its Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) Portal through two successful recovery cases. Zeedesign Engineering Pvt. Ltd., a Mumbai-based Udyam-registered micro enterprise, recovered ₹21.06 lakh within just 24 hours of filing a petition on the ODR portal through an amicable settlement. Similarly, M/S Shiva Chemicals, a Kolkata-based micro enterprise, recovered ₹4,99,184 against two outstanding invoices from a public sector buyer after accessing the MSME ODR Portal and filing its claim before the Micro and Small Enterprises Facilitation Council (MSEFC) under the MSMED Act, 2006.
The MSME ODR Portal serves as a digital dispute resolution mechanism under the Ministry's RAMP Programme, designed to provide fast, fair, and digital resolution for commercial disputes, particularly delayed payment issues. The platform features a pre-MSEFC negotiation mechanism that allows buyers and suppliers to engage through a structured digital platform before disputes reach formal council intervention. Key features include a Digital Guided Pathway that analyzes disputes and provides indications of likely outcomes, support for vernacular languages, intuitive interface, and simplified workflows to ensure accessibility for enterprises regardless of location or digital familiarity.
The portal enables online conciliation and arbitration before the MSEFC when formal intervention is required, eliminating geographical barriers and reducing procedural delays. By reducing dependence on lengthy litigation, the platform aims to maintain healthy cash flows for businesses, strengthen trust between buyers and suppliers, preserve long-term commercial relationships, and allow entrepreneurs to focus on business growth rather than prolonged legal proceedings. The initiative supports the Government's vision of Digital India, Ease of Doing Business, and an inclusive MSME ecosystem with equitable access to justice.
