Manipal Tata Medical College (MTMC) in Jamshedpur conducted its inaugural graduation ceremony, awarding MBBS degrees to 133 students from the 2020‑2021 academic session.
The ceremony was part of the 33rd Convocation of MAHE and took place at the MTMC campus in Baridih, Jamshedpur.
Chief Guest: Hon’ble Governor of Jharkhand Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar; Guest of Honour: Shri K. Vijay Kumar, Senior Security Advisor, Ministry of Home Affairs; other dignitaries included Shri Sundara Ramam (Vice President – Corporate Services, Tata Steel), Shri Somnath Das (Group President – Special Projects, MAHE), Brig. (Dr) H S Bandhu (Dean, MTMC), and virtual appearance by Shri Irfan Ansari, Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare, Government of Jharkhand.
MAHE Vice Chancellor Dr Sharath K Rao conferred the degrees, highlighted MTMC’s reputation for excellence in medical education, research and innovation, and reaffirmed the institution’s long‑term vision.
Tata Steel’s Vice President Sundara Ramam emphasized the partnership as a lasting investment in regional education, healthcare and community development.
The Governor’s convocation address underscored the societal role of medicine, the impact of emerging technologies, and the importance of empathy and human connection in healthcare.
The event also featured the awarding of the Dr TMA Pai Gold Medal by the Governor.
