The 19th Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) 2026 was inaugurated in Mumbai on June 15, 2026, opening with three global films that set the thematic tone for the festival. The opening films included 'Time and Water' by Oscar-nominated director Sara Dosa (a National Geographic Documentary Films production exploring ecological and familial loss through retreating glaciers), 'AGAPITO' by Filipino co-directors Arvin Belarmino and Kyla Romero (a Tagalog-language short film about human connection in a fading bowling alley), and 'Good Luck to You All' by Canadian animator Cordell Barker (a National Film Board of Canada production examining AI and technological evolution through childhood innocence).

MIFF 2026, organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, is South Asia's oldest and largest non-feature film festival running from June 15 to 21, 2026. The competitive section received 1,459 film entries from 47 countries including India, with films presented in more than 42 Indian languages and over 30 foreign languages. The festival program includes documentaries, short fiction films, animations, debut director films, student films, the 2nd edition of Doc Bazaar, masterclasses, and an Open Forum by IDPA.
