The National Health Authority has achieved a significant milestone with its ABHA-based Scan and Register service (formerly Scan and Share Service) under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, crossing 25 crore OPD registrations since its launch in October 2022. This digital healthcare service enables patients to complete hospital registration digitally through QR-code scanning at participating healthcare facilities, eliminating manual registration and paper-based forms while significantly reducing waiting times and improving operational efficiency.

The service is currently operational across 30,800 healthcare facilities spanning 36 States and Union Territories and 756 districts nationwide, comprising 24,323 public healthcare facilities and 6,481 private healthcare facilities. On average, nearly 4 lakh patients use the Scan and Register service every day for OPD registration, benefiting diverse patient groups including women, senior citizens, expectant mothers, and individuals requiring frequent hospital visits.

State-wise adoption data shows Bihar leads with over 7.30 crore Scan and Register transactions, followed by Uttar Pradesh (4.09 crore), Andhra Pradesh (3.38 crore), and Jammu & Kashmir (1.39 crore). Among government healthcare facilities, AIIMS New Delhi has generated the highest number of registrations with over 54.29 lakh, followed by AIIMS Bhopal (29.10 lakh), AIIMS Bhubaneswar (23.93 lakh), AIIMS Patna (19.62 lakh), and AIIMS Raipur (18.63 lakh).

The service has been implemented across a wide spectrum of healthcare facilities including AIIMS, Central Government hospitals, State Government medical colleges, district hospitals, sub-district hospitals, community health centers, specialty hospitals, trust hospitals, ESIC hospitals, railway hospitals, and private healthcare facilities. Dr. Sunil Kumar Barnwal, Chief Executive Officer of National Health Authority, emphasized that this achievement reflects growing trust in India's digital health ecosystem and demonstrates the transformative potential of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission in building an interoperable, secure, and citizen-centric digital health ecosystem.
