The National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa (NISR) in Leh has launched a three-month 400-hour Yoga Wellness Instructor Certificate Course in collaboration with the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), New Delhi. The course follows MDNIY's guidelines and was formally inaugurated by Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena, Prime Minister Yoga Awardee and Founder President of the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre, with Dr. Tashi Thinlas, Director of the Department of AYUSH, Health & Medical Education for UT Ladakh, attending as Guest of Honour. Dr. Padma Gurmet, Director of NISR Leh, presided over the inaugural session.
Dr. Gurmet congratulated participants on joining Ladakh's first-ever yoga wellness certificate course and encouraged active participation in both theoretical and practical components. Dr. Thinlas emphasized the growing significance of integrating modern medicine, traditional medicine, and yoga for overall health and well-being, highlighting the scope for yoga therapists in Ladakh and plans to incorporate yoga into the health sector. Ven. Sanghasena described yoga as a way of life that nurtures physical health, mental peace, and spiritual well-being, inviting students to the Mahabodhi Meditation Centre for meditation practice. Shri Gopal Sharma, Course Coordinator, briefed students on the program schedule and guidelines, with the event concluding with a vote of thanks by Ms. Dolma Tsering.
