The National SC-ST Hub Scheme (NSSH) under the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises continues to strengthen the competitiveness of SC/ST entrepreneurs through technology upgradation, enhanced business capabilities, and facilitated participation in public procurement. The scheme's interventions include the Special Credit Linked Capital Subsidy Scheme (SCLCSS) and Business Acceleration Programme (BAP), which help enterprises overcome operational constraints, adopt modern technologies, improve compliance, and access institutional markets.
Three success stories demonstrate the scheme's impact. Varun Enterprises in Punjab, led by Mr. Hukum Chand, received ₹15.67 lakh under SCLCSS during 2021-22 for advanced manufacturing equipment including a fibre laser cutting system, CNC hydraulic press brake, air compressor, and UPS systems. This enabled the enterprise to secure a ₹95.99 lakh purchase order from Modern Coach Factory (MCF), Rae Bareli for connection boxes in rail coaches.
Raju Thangavelu in Tamil Nadu received ₹25 lakh under SCLCSS to upgrade transportation infrastructure and safety-compliant systems for petroleum logistics. This support led to a transportation contract award from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) in April 2026.
BOI (B. Ortho International Pvt. Ltd.) in Jharkhand, led by Mr. Rahul and Mrs. Divya, received both SCLCS support for advanced machinery and BAP support for strategic mentorship and market linkages. The enterprise now manufactures approximately 50,000 pairs of latex surgical gloves per day and doubled its turnover from ₹15 lakh to ₹30 lakh. The operations generated local employment with approximately 60% women workforce participation.
The scheme demonstrates how targeted support can transform SC/ST enterprises into resilient and competitive businesses, contributing to reliable supply chains, increased employment generation, and participation in India's industrial ecosystem towards the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat.
