The National Commission for Minorities (NCM) conducted several institutional outreach programs during 2026 focused on minority community development and welfare. The Commission completed a study on "Contribution of Jain Community in the Field of Education" that documented the historical evolution, institutional contribution, and educational philosophy of the Jain community in India, specifically capturing the role of Jain trusts, philanthropists, educational institutions, and community organizations in promoting learning, research, scholarships, value-based education, and inclusive access to education.
NCM organized a Conference of State Minorities Commissions on 19 May 2026 in New Delhi, attended by representatives of State Minorities Commissions, along with officials of State Governments and Union Territories. The conference served as a platform to deliberate on institutional strengthening, administrative coordination, grievance redressal mechanisms, and the exchange of best practices for enhancing outreach and improving the delivery of welfare measures for minority communities.
The Commission conducted three national seminars: A seminar on "Buddhism in Modern India: Navigating Cultural and Social Pathways" on 27 February 2026 in New Delhi focused on heritage preservation, education, youth engagement and the role of Buddhist philosophy in promoting peace and social harmony. A seminar on "The Contribution of the Jain Community to the Indian Economy, Education and Philanthropy" on 23 April 2026 in Indore was organized in collaboration with Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) and discussed the community's significant role in nation-building. A seminar on "Parsis in Modern India: Navigating Cultural and Socio-Economic Pathways" on 9 May 2026 in Mumbai focused on preservation of Parsi heritage, socio-economic development, demographic challenges and the community's contribution to nation-building.
All events were graced by the Hon'ble Minister of Minority Affairs and Hon'ble Minister of State for Minority Affairs, bringing together policymakers, scholars, spiritual leaders, industrialists, academicians, and community representatives.
