AI is portrayed as repeating this pattern, but at a faster pace and with broader reach, offering sophisticated tools to students with limited means, allowing young entrepreneurs to automate work that once required teams, and expanding experimental space for creators.
A central theme was the distinction between intelligence and judgement. Speakers argued that AI can generate information, offer possibilities and imitate voices, but it cannot decide what deserves weight, understand consequences, or carry the meaning behind a voice. Consequently, the future workforce is likely to split not simply between those who know AI and those who do not, but between those who treat technology as a mechanical extension and those who combine it with judgement, empathy, curiosity and responsibility.
The panel warned that machines will continue to become more powerful—a fact already evident—and stressed that the harder question is whether people will become wiser about the power they place in their hands.
