Press Release – New Delhi, 8 October 2026
The World Health Organization estimates that roughly one in ten patients worldwide is harmed during the delivery of health‑care, and about half of those adverse events are considered preventable. Against this backdrop, Dr. Neeraj Kumar Dhabhai, a veteran of health‑care supply‑chain and health‑tech, launched his new book Clinical Decision Support Systems: Transforming Patient Safety Through AI in Indian Healthcare. The book is published by Adhyaan Books.
The publication argues that the principal obstacle to safer clinical decisions is not the absence of data but the fragmentation of information across disparate hospital systems, disconnected workflows, and the lack of intelligent infrastructure capable of converting raw data into actionable clinical insight. It explains how Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS) can bridge this gap by providing contextual insights, timely alerts, and evidence‑based recommendations while supporting, rather than replacing, clinician judgement. The narrative positions CDSS as a core component of a hospital’s safety infrastructure in an increasingly data‑driven environment.
Target readers include hospital administrators, clinicians, technology developers, and policymakers. The book outlines critical patient‑safety problems that CDSS can address, its potential contribution to life‑saving interventions, automation of health‑care workflows, stakeholder benefits, and practical implementation challenges in India. It also covers implementation strategy, regulatory and ethical considerations, and offers a practical roadmap for organisations seeking to adopt CDSS.
In a statement, Dr. Dhabhai emphasized that “Patients deserve better than luck” and noted that while Indian hospitals have invested heavily in digitisation, digitisation alone does not guarantee safer decisions. He asserted that the real opportunity lies in connecting existing information and making it meaningful at the point of care, and that the technology now exists; the challenge is building the systems, processes, and governance required for responsible use.
Dr. Dhabhai brings nearly two decades of experience across major health‑care organisations and pharmaceutical companies, including Fortis, Hinduja, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Abbott and Zydus. He currently serves as Vice President, Supply Chain at Rainbow Children’s Hospital, where he has overseen large‑scale procurement, infrastructure initiatives, supply‑chain digitalisation, and the development of new health‑care business verticals. He is also a visiting faculty member at IIM Nagpur and General Secretary of the National Healthcare Supply Chain Council. His first book, Supply Pulse: Navigating the Heartbeat of Healthcare, examined technology’s role in improving transparency, visibility and trust across health‑care procurement and operations; the new title represents a progression from operational intelligence to clinical decision intelligence and patient safety.
