The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) inaugurated its four-week Summer Internship Programme (SIP) 2026
The programme is being conducted at NHRC premises in New Delhi
100 students were shortlisted from 1,668 applicants
Selected students represent 40 institutions across 21 states/union territories
Students come from diverse academic disciplines including Law, Social Sciences, Social Work, Psychology, Journalism, Gender Studies, Digital Humanities, and International Relations
The programme includes interactive sessions, group research projects, book reviews, and declamation contests
Field visits are scheduled to Police Stations, Tihar Jail, SHEOWS' home for the elderly, and other National Commissions
The objective is to create a new generation of leadership committed to human rights, human values, and social responsibility
The programme aims to provide learning beyond classrooms and digital sources
