NIELIT Digital University Partners with Saylor University and Multiple Organizations
The National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), has launched a significant collaboration with Saylor University, USA to integrate Saylor's digital learning resources into the NIELIT Digital University (NDU) platform. The partnership was formally inaugurated by Shri S. Krishnan, Secretary of MeitY, at an event in New Delhi.
Through this integration, learners on the NDU platform will gain access to Saylor University's portfolio of more than 160 free online courses in high-demand areas including artificial intelligence, programming, data science, cybersecurity, and business management. These self-paced, globally relevant learning resources are expected to provide greater flexibility and choice for Indian learners pursuing digital education.
Concurrently, NIELIT exchanged Memoranda of Understanding with eight partner organizations from industry, associations, and academia. The partners include Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM), Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI), Pearson India Education Services Pvt. Ltd., Stemlore Innovators LLP, Dassault Systèmes, ABES Engineering College, and Kavayitri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra University (KBCNMU), Jalgaon. These collaborations aim to expand industry-aligned skilling, certification, faculty development, internships, and digital learning opportunities primarily through the NDU platform.
Shri S. Krishnan emphasized the importance of aligning skilling and talent development with evolving industry requirements and the global digital economy, highlighting the need for continuous learning, upskilling, and reskilling to maintain India's competitive workforce. Dr. M. M. Tripathi, Director General of NIELIT, underscored the role of partnerships in strengthening digital education and emerging technology capabilities.
The NIELIT Digital University platform, launched on October 2, 2025, currently serves 2.80 lakh+ registered learners across all 36 States/UTs and 761 districts of India. The platform offers 120+ courses across emerging technology domains including AI, cybersecurity, data science, cloud computing, semiconductor design, and VLSI. It features NSQF-aligned, NCVET-approved programmes with ABC-enabled credit transfer and personalized learning pathways.
NIELIT operates as an Autonomous Scientific Society of MeitY with extensive reach through 56 NIELIT centers, over 700 accredited institutes, and 8,000+ facilitation centers. The institution has been conferred the status of "Deemed to be University" under the UGC Regulations, 2023, with its main campus at Ropar, Punjab and eleven constituent campuses across India.
