The National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management - Thanjavur (NIFTEM-T), acting as the PMFME National Level Nodal Agency under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, organized a three-day hands-on training program on "Dairy Processing and Value Addition" for PMFME (Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises) beneficiaries from Tamil Nadu state. The training took place from June 16 to June 18, 2026, at the Thanjavur Campus with the objective of enhancing participants' knowledge and skills in milk processing, quality management, and value-added product preparation.

A total of 25 PMFME beneficiaries from 10 districts of Tamil Nadu participated in the training program. The training was inaugurated by Prof. V. Palanimuthu, Director of NIFTEM-T, in the presence of institute officers and the PMFME Coordinator. The program combined theoretical instruction with hands-on practical sessions designed to improve entrepreneurial capabilities.

The curriculum covered multiple aspects of dairy processing including processing techniques for milk and milk products, required machinery, packaging and storage guidelines, quality analysis, regulatory requirements, marketing and branding strategies, cost analysis, and Detailed Project Report (DPR) preparation. The program also included industry visits to provide practical exposure. The training aims to strengthen technical and business competencies of beneficiaries, encouraging adoption of value-added dairy processing for sustainable livelihood development.
