The Ministry of Food Processing Industries announced the launch of a pilot Short Term Skill Training Programme (STSTP) at ITC's Integrated Consumer Goods Manufacturing and Logistics facility in Trichy. NIFTEM-Thanjavur launched the Short-term Skill Training on Assistant Baking Technician (NSQF Level 3) Certificate Programme in coordination with ITC Ltd on July 3, 2026. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. V. Palanimuthu, Director of NIFTEM-Thanjavur, in the presence of Shri Surjeet Singh Roria, General Manager & Head of ITC-ICML, and Shri Padmanabhan T., Senior HR Manager of ITC-ICML.

The first batch consists of 18 trainees who will undergo industry-integrated training from July 7 to August 20, 2026. The practical skill development training will be conducted within the industrial facility itself, and all trainees are already assured of employment at ITC Ltd upon successful completion of the programme. This industry-integrated approach represents a model for skill development in various fields of food processing.

NIFTEM-Thanjavur, as an NCVET-recognized Deemed Awarding Body, continues to deliver NSQF-aligned training programmes that support the national mission of building an industry-ready workforce under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries. The programme offers nationally recognized certifications that align with the National Skills Qualification Framework, enhancing the employability of participants in the food processing sector.
