The auto sector was the standout performer. Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NSE:HROM) surged 3.44%, adding 177.00 points to finish at 5,326.10. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (NSE:MAHM) climbed 2.18%, a gain of 70.20 points, ending at 3,292.00. On the BSE, Mahindra & Mahindra (BO:MAHM) posted a 2.01% rise to 3,287.85, while Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (BO:MRTI) advanced 1.77% to settle at 14,189.00.

Sector Contributors and Laggards

In the oil and gas space, Coal India Ltd (NSE:COAL) rose 1.74%, adding 7.15 points to close at 417.20. Conversely, crude oil for September delivery slipped 0.33% (down $0.28) to $84.18 per barrel, and the October Brent contract fell 0.31% (down $0.27) to $87.82 per barrel.

The biggest decliners were Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NSE:APSE), which fell 3.41% (58.70 points) to 1,661.00 on both NSE and BSE. HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NSE:HDFL) dropped 2.12% (11.80 points) to 544.90, touching 52‑week lows. Shriram Finance Ltd (NSE:SHMF) declined 1.50% (15.70 points) to 1,029.00. Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) was a notable positive outlier, gaining 1.61% (24.15 points) to close at 1,523.00, reaching an all‑time high.
