Nifty 50 ended down 0.40% while BSE Sensex slipped 0.54% at the close of trade on 28 April 2026.
Banking, Auto and FMCG sectors drove the decline, with Axis Bank, Maruti Suzuki and HCL Technologies posting the biggest losses.
ONGC rallied 5.63% to 302.00, reaching a 52‑week high; Adani Enterprises (+3.94%) and Coal India (+3.29%) also rose sharply.
India VIX fell 1.61% to 18.08; crude oil rose to $99.70, Brent to $104.38, gold slipped to $4,628.36, and USD/INR rose to 94.54.
