President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in a program marking the completion of two years of the Government of Odisha at Rairangpur, Mayurbhanj on June 20, 2026. They jointly inaugurated 60 projects and laid foundation stones for 12 additional projects with a total value of Rs. 47,600 crore across multiple sectors including energy, industrial infrastructure, road connectivity, drinking water, health, education, tourism and irrigation. These projects aim to strengthen regional connectivity and boost economic development in the region.

The President emphasized that development becomes meaningful when benefits reach every village, family, and citizen, with priority given to improving human development indicators in tribal areas, remote regions, and aspirational districts. The government highlighted various tribal welfare initiatives including providing Minimum Support Price for over 90 minor forest produce under Pradhan Mantri Van-Dhan Yojana, extending loans to tribal women through micro-credit schemes, and offering low-interest loans under tribal women empowerment schemes. The National Sickle Cell Anaemia Elimination Mission has been launched to eradicate the disease prevalent in tribal populations, while Eklavya Model Residential Schools have been established to provide quality education to tribal children.

Prime Minister Modi announced that Pahadpur village would be developed as a Surya Gram (Solar Village) following his visit with the President. The Odisha government under Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi was commended for promoting cleanliness and sanitation, with the state gaining significant momentum in the industrial sector over the past two years. Ports in the state are undergoing rapid development, and the government is taking numerous steps to develop rail, road, and waterways with active central government support. Special attention is being given to women's empowerment initiatives across the state.
