Altman to Meet Samsung on AI Adoption
OpenAI Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman is scheduled to travel to South Korea next week, arriving on Monday for a visit to Samsung Electronics’ office in Suwon, located south of Seoul. During the visit he will deliver a lecture covering the impact of artificial‑intelligence technologies and outlining strategies for AI‑driven workplace innovation.
The meeting is part of Samsung’s broader effort to overhaul its work processes and corporate culture through increased adoption of AI tools and systems across the conglomerate. Samsung’s share price was reported up 0.58% (ticker 005930) on the day of the announcement, while OpenAI’s stock showed no change.
This will be Altman’s first trip to South Korea in roughly eight months. In his previous visit in October, Altman held separate meetings with Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae‑yong and SK Group Chairman Chey Tae‑won. Following those discussions, OpenAI signed letters of intent with both Samsung and SK Group to cooperate on the development of global AI infrastructure, establishing a foundation for broader strategic partnerships between the parties.
The agenda therefore combines a public lecture on AI adoption, direct executive dialogue with Samsung leadership, and the continuation of previously agreed‑upon collaborative frameworks aimed at building worldwide AI infrastructure.
