Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will lead a high-level Indian business delegation to Spain, Belgium, and Finland from July 13 to 17, 2026, to strengthen India-EU economic partnerships with focus on trade, investment, technology collaboration, innovation, and sustainability. The delegation comprises leading Indian companies from advanced manufacturing, clean energy, digital technologies, gems and jewellery, food processing, healthcare, and design sectors.
In Spain on July 13, the visit focuses on advancing bilateral trade and investment and leveraging opportunities from the proposed India-EU Free Trade Agreement. Minister Goyal will hold bilateral meetings with Spain's First Vice President and Minister of Economy, Trade and Business Carlos Cuerpo Caballero, Minister of Industry and Tourism Jordi Hereu Boher, and Minister of Foreign Affairs José Manuel Albares Bueno. He will chair an India-Spain Business Roundtable with Spanish companies and industry associations and participate in another roundtable with the Chamber of Commerce of Spain, CEOE and ICEX Spain Trade & Investment. These sessions will explore opportunities in automotive, renewable energy, railways, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, food processing, and tourism. Spanish companies including Iberdrola, Acciona, CAF, Talgo, Gestamp, and Indra have strong presence in India, while Indian companies TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, and L&T are expanding operations in Spain. The visit coincides with Spain-India Dual Year 2026 commemorating 70 years of diplomatic relations.
In Belgium on July 14-15, Minister Goyal will visit the Port of Antwerp to study Europe's leading logistics hub and best practices in multimodal connectivity, green logistics, and resilient supply chains. He will also visit the Antwerp World Diamond Centre to understand the global diamond value chain, certification, responsible sourcing, and opportunities for India's gems and jewellery sector. CEO-level meetings are scheduled with Alain Queverin of Thales Group (aerospace, defense, cybersecurity, digital identity) and Jean-Christophe Bogaert of Silox Group (specialty chemicals and recycling with operations in Gujarat). The India-EU Business Roundtable and Trade and Technology Council Plenary will focus on foreign direct investment opportunities, trade facilitation, sustainable technologies, and resilient supply chains. In Brussels, Minister Goyal will co-chair the 3rd India-EU Trade and Technology Council Ministerial Meeting alongside India's External Affairs Minister and Minister of State for Electronics & Information Technology. He will meet with senior EU leaders including the President of the European Commission, President of the European Council, and Prime Minister of Belgium, plus bilateral meetings with Belgium's Deputy Prime Minister David Clarinval and European Commissioner for Trade Maroš Šefčovič.
In Finland on July 16-17, at the invitation of the Prime Minister of Finland, the visit will strengthen cooperation in innovation, advanced manufacturing, clean energy, digital technologies, and industrial research. Minister Goyal will hold bilateral meetings with Finland's Minister of Economic Affairs Sakari Puisto and participate in the India-Finland Business Roundtable with companies engaged in digitalization, clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and circular economy. An MoU between CII and Business Finland will be signed to strengthen institutional collaboration. Site visits include Nokia Corporation (telecom infrastructure, 6G research), VTT Research Centre (smart mobility, advanced manufacturing), KONE Corporation (industrial machinery, EV charging infrastructure), and Kemppi Group (frontier technologies, sustainable mobility, industrial innovation).
The Indian business delegation includes Borosil Renewables, Motherson Group, Trivitron Healthcare, Hari Krishna Exports, and Nekkanti Seafoods, representing AI, clean technology, gems and jewellery, food processing, healthcare, and design sectors. The visit highlights key themes of advanced manufacturing, clean energy and sustainability, digital and frontier technologies, gems and jewellery, and food and consumer industries. This visit comes at a significant juncture in India-EU relations with both sides committed to strengthening economic cooperation and working toward early implementation of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement, reflecting India's commitment to deepening engagement with one of its largest trading partners.
