Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the Outreach Session on "Ensuring a Safe, Rapid and Efficient Rollout of Artificial Intelligence" at the G7 Summit in Evian, France on June 18, 2026.

In his address, the Prime Minister highlighted that while Artificial Intelligence represents a transformative force with the potential to redefine the direction of human civilization, it must ultimately empower people. He referenced India's recent hosting of the AI Impact Summit and elaborated on India's human-centric vision for AI, termed the MANAV (human) vision, which requires that AI technology be anchored in the principles of inclusivity, security, and public good.

Noting that India has consistently viewed cyberspace as a global public good, Prime Minister Modi emphasized that democratic countries must have access to AI models capable of securing their critical information infrastructure and helping them address cyber threats. He called for an integrated approach to AI development where safety, speed, and efficiency are addressed collectively.

The Prime Minister made four specific suggestions for the global community: AI systems should be designed to be safe-by-design from the outset; AI deployment must be accompanied by the establishment of common standards, testing frameworks, and regulatory guidelines; there should be effective global cooperation to counter challenges posed by deepfakes, misinformation, and cyber fraud; and the benefits of AI development must extend to countries of the Global South to ensure a truly inclusive world.

He concluded by stating that the fundamental objective of AI should be to expand human potential, empower human choice, and protect human dignity. India committed to continuing its work with international partners to promote these objectives.
