Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated, inaugurated, and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth approximately ₹1.06 lakh crore in Balotra, Rajasthan. The projects span aviation, energy, and connectivity sectors aimed at strengthening infrastructure, accelerating growth, and improving ease of living in the region.
Key Infrastructure Projects
The centerpiece was the dedication of the Rajasthan Refinery, which the Prime Minister emphasized will serve as a permanent medium of employment for thousands of people. The new airport terminal in Jodhpur was inaugurated, expected to provide new impetus to tourism, trade, and employment in the Marwar region. The foundation stone was laid for Jaipur Metro Phase-2, which will expand the total network beyond 50 kilometers, connecting East-West and North-South corridors.
Employment and Water Agreements
The government distributed appointment letters to approximately 54,000 young candidates across Rajasthan for government jobs. A landmark ₹34,000 crore agreement was announced between the governments of Rajasthan and Haryana to address water scarcity in the Shekhawati region. The agreement involves laying an underground pipeline from the Hathnikund Barrage to supply water to Sikar, Churu, Jhunjhunu, and adjacent areas.
Energy Crisis Management
The Prime Minister detailed how India successfully navigated what he described as "the greatest energy crisis of the 21st century" caused by conflicts in West Asia. Prior to the conflict, India relied on imports for 60% of its LPG, with 90% originating from the volatile Gulf region. When war choked off critical supply lines, domestic refineries were rapidly reconfigured to boost LPG production from 35,000 metric tonnes to 54,000 metric tonnes within just seven days.
The government implemented comprehensive consumer protection strategies, including expanding PNG (piped natural gas) connections to over 11 lakh households in a short timeframe to alleviate demand for traditional cylinder gas. Despite market predictions that domestic cylinders could reach ₹2,000, the government capped prices below ₹950, with Ujjwala cylinders priced under ₹650. Commercial gas prices were also reduced two days prior to the announcement.
Financial Measures and Sacrifices
Between April and June 2026 alone, the government absorbed losses exceeding ₹75,000 crore to maintain fuel price stability. Excise duty was reduced by ₹10 per liter to guarantee uninterrupted and affordable supply. The government also addressed fertilizer shortages triggered by the Ukraine war, where global urea prices exceeded ₹3,000 per bag, by providing urea at ₹300 through substantial subsidies and securing alternative global supply routes.
Strategic Response
India leveraged its diplomatic power to expand fuel import sources from 25-26 countries to over 40 nations. The next phase of the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme was deployed to protect MSMEs from operational costs, facilitating an additional 20% loans from banks with 100% government guarantee. The Prime Minister credited India's precise strategic assessments, balanced resource utilization, and proactive diplomacy for successfully insulating the economy from global shockwaves.
