SEMICON India 2026 Conference Inauguration
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the fifth edition of SEMICON India 2026 on September 17, 2026, at Yashobhoomi (India International Convention & Expo Centre) in New Delhi. The event, India's premier semiconductor and electronics conference, will run from September 17-19, 2026, and is jointly organized by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and SEMI, the global semiconductor industry association.
Event Scale and Participation
The event will feature over 600 exhibitors, including 300 international companies and delegations from more than 40 countries. The exhibition will occupy 15,000 square metres of space and include six country pavilions, twelve state government pavilions, a dedicated Startup Pavilion showcasing around 40 startups, an Innovation Showcase, Startup Pitch Competition, Student Hackathon, and Workforce Development Pavilion. The conference programme will include 150+ renowned speakers and focus on emerging trends including semiconductor manufacturing, artificial intelligence, supply-chain resilience, advanced packaging, materials and equipment, chip design, and talent development.
India's Semiconductor Progress and Policy Framework
The event comes at a significant juncture in India's semiconductor journey, with the government having approved 12 semiconductor projects under the Semicon India Programme. Three of these 12 projects have already commenced commercial production. The Union Cabinet has approved Semicon 2.0 with six major pillars to further accelerate ecosystem development. The government is supporting semiconductor research and design, making electronic design automation tools available to more than 400 academic institutions and 105 startups, with 24 startups approved under the Design Linked Incentive (DLI) Scheme.
Market Context and Growth Projections
The global semiconductor market was valued at approximately USD 796 billion in 2025 and is projected to surpass USD 2 trillion by 2030. India's semiconductor demand is currently estimated at around USD 50 billion and is projected to reach approximately USD 103 billion by 2030, highlighting significant growth potential. The theme "Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem" reflects India's transition from building credibility to demonstrating capability across the semiconductor value chain.
Participating Companies and Strategic Focus
The event will feature participation from leading global and Indian companies including ASML, Applied Materials, Teradyne, Infineon, Ebara, Jabil, IBM Research, NXP, Tata Electronics, Micron, Merck KGaA, Rapidus, Lam Research, CG Power, Uno Minda, and Advantest. The conference programme will include six International Country Roundtables, a session on Women Empowerment & Leadership, a Workforce Development Session, and a special session titled "Stronger Together: Industry Associations Collaborating for India's ESDM Growth."
