Portugal PSI20 Closes Higher

Portugal's main equity index, the PSI20, finished Friday’s session up 0.69%, ending the day on a positive note. Gains in the PSI Financials Gross Return, PSI Utilities Gross Return and PSI Telecommunications Gross Return sectors were the primary drivers of the rise.

The most notable individual stock performance came from Teixeira Duarte (ELI:TDSA), which surged 4.63% – an increase of 0.02 points – to close at 0.50. Ren Redes Energeticas Nacionais SGPS SA (ELI:RENE) added 2.27% (0.08 points) to finish at 3.61, while Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI:MOTA) rose 1.13% (0.05 points) to end at 4.65.

Among the decliners, Ibersol SGPS (ELI:IBS) fell 2.52% (0.26 points) to 10.04, Corticeira Amorim (ELI:CORA) dropped 0.91% (0.06 points) to 6.52, and The Navigator Company SA (ELI:NVGR) slipped 0.06% (0.00 points) to 3.48.

Overall, the market saw 22 advancing stocks versus five declining stocks, with four stocks unchanged at the close of trading on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.

In commodity markets, Brent crude oil for August delivery increased 1.01% (0.81 dollars) to $80.66 per barrel, while July crude rose 0.07% (0.05 dollars) to $76.65 per barrel. August gold futures fell 1.90% (80.65 dollars) to $4,165.25 per troy ounce.

Foreign exchange rates were largely flat, with the EUR/USD pair unchanged at 1.15 (up 0.06%) and the EUR/GBP pair unchanged at 0.87 (up 0.08%). The US Dollar Index Futures slipped 0.01% to a level of 100.61.
